Assignment

VT 100 – Introduction to Veterinary Technology

For this assignment you will create an Annotated Bibliography.  This is a list of information sources (books, articles, websites, etc.) about a specific topic.  The annotations summarize and evaluate the information found in those different sources.  You’ll be learning about the topic and finding information sources, but you won’t be writing an actual paper.  See the sample annotated bibliography on one of the blue tabs above.

 You will need to:

1)      Pick a topic from the list below.

2)      Find a minimum of 8 high-quality, credible information sources.  Use a combination of at least 3 different types of sources (for example: books, journal articles, magazine articles, websites, etc.).  The majority of these sources should be intended for professionals working in a veterinary or animal care field of study.

3)      Annotate each source by:

a)      Summarizing the sources and describing what you learned from it.

b)      Evaluating the information and the source.  Is this a reliable source that presents credible information?  What factors illustrate its credibility?  What helped you determine the information was accurate?  Who is the intended audience for the source – pet owners, vet techs, veterinarians?

4)      Cite the sources using APA style citation format.

Topics to choose from:

Zoonotic diseases of dogs

Zoonotic diseases of cats

Infectious disease control measures in veterinary hospitals

Bats as a source of rabies infections
