1. Research a groundbreaking psychologist such as B.F. Skinner, Sigmund Freud, Albert Ellis, Albert Bandura, Erik Erikson, Carl Jung, Frederick Perls, Noam Chomsky, Carl Rogers, or any other ground breaking psychologist.
a) Start with a psychology encyclopedia in the library to read a general overview of the psychologist and his or her theories. Take notes. Be sure to summarize this person’s influence in the field. What theories did this person create? What are they well know for? Be sure to note title of source, publisher, author, year, title of the chapter, page numbers.
b) Find a book or a chapter of a book about this person or his or her theories. Read it. Take notes of important points. Be sure to note title of source, publisher, author, year, title, page numbers.
c) Find one magazine article that is meant for the general public concerning this psychologist or his or her work or theories. Read it. Take notes of important points. Be sure to note title of source, publisher, author, year or date of publication, title, page numbers, name of database you used.
d) Find one research study from a scholarly journal. The research should be using a particular theory, practice, or school of thought related to this psychologist’s work. (for example: Behavioral Theory, Systems Theory, Psychoanalysis, etc.) Read it and take notes. Be sure to note title of source, publisher, author, year or date of publication, title, page numbers, name of database you used.
2. Write a three page paper about this person’s work, influence in the field, and how his or her theories are still used today. Do you agree with or disagree with these theories? In your paper, use proper IN TEXT citation referring to the books and articles. You must have FOUR or more sources (one from book, two from a scholarly journal, and two more from a source of your choice). Be sure to write in text citations in at least two different ways (direct quote or as a reference of the general idea).
3. Create a REFERENCES list in proper APA format.What is cited in the paper must be in the reference list and you must cite any materials that you may have gleaned information from.
