Assignment Overview

For the Research and Support Essay, you will identify a topic of interest, and then expand on the topic through well-documented research. The topic may be selected from any of your in-class readings, an area of interest, or your extra credit fiction option (if already chosen and okayed by your instructor).  A thesis statement must be present at the beginning of the essay, and a minimum of three outside sources, incorporating a minimum of two different kinds of media (book, periodical, internet, interview) must be used to support the information presented. All information, including direct quotes (in-text and block style) and paraphrasing, must be documented according to MLA format.

Information adapted from your instructor's

Research and Support Essay assignment sheet.
