What is Information Competency?

Information Competency (IC), one of Pierce College's five Core Abilities, is the ability to seek, find, evaluate and use information to engage in lifelong learning.

Library faculty at Pierce College can help faculty accomplish the IC outcome through library instruction sessions, assignment design and other forms of collaboration. We can highlight focused library resources and research methods specific to any assignment or discipline.

Collaborative Teaching That Transcends the Library Tour

Library faculty invite you to join us in designing library instruction tailored to your students' particular needs, in the context of your specific assignment.

This way we can target the skills and resources students need to successfully complete that assignment.

Library sessions go beyond the old model of the "library tour" and engage students in a hands-on learning environment designed to accomplish specific learning outcomes.
