Assignment & Outcomes

Assignment: You will work in groups to design a laboratory experiment and write a short research paper about the problem and potential treatments of acidification of freshwater streams and lakes.  You will examine the sources of the problem and also design a lab exercise that will investigate a potential treatment for water which has been acidified.  You must find at least 3 peer-reviewed scientific articles.

Outcomes: This library research session will enable you to identify what a peer-reviewed journal is, find articles about the problem and potential treatments of acidification of freshwater streams and lakes, and develop strategies for reading a peer-reviewed scientific article.
