Assignment & Objective

Research Essay:

For this assignment, you are required to identify a topic of interest that poses a question for you.  Through research, using multiple sources, you will gain a better understanding of the topic and develop a thesis.  From your thesis, you will then make a claim of fact, claim of value, or claim or policy based on your position.  Your 10-12 page (3000 word) paper should include a minimum of six sources, from a minimum of three different kinds of media (including books, periodicals and the Internet).

Library Instruction Outcomes:

Through this library research guide and instruction session, you'll be able to refine your topic in order to develop a thesis statement, identify a variety of sources that support your topic, evaluate sources for quality and relevance and cite sources using MLA citation style.
